The Practice of Grounding

Foundational to Your Vitality

Grounding, also known as earthing, is the practice of connecting your body to the Earth's natural electrical charge. The easiest way to do this is by connecting hands or feet to the earth by walking or standing barefoot. This works on grass, dirt, sand, water, and even cement as it too is conductive.

Grounding produces intriguing effects on physiology and health. Such effects relate to inflammation, immune responses, wound healing, and prevention and treatment of chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.

During grounding, we are able to discharge our positively charged ions for negatively charged ions. We are able to be connected with the earth which is our battery and charge through our feet. Today, most shoes are plastic which is a perfect insulator from mother earth. Have you ever noticed how you just feel better when you’re at the beach? Maybe it’s in part to touching the sand💭

Grounding reduces pain and alters the numbers of circulating neutrophils and lymphocytes, and also affects various circulating chemical factors related to inflammation. Grounding an organism produces measurable differences in the concentrations of white blood cells, cytokines, and other molecules involved in the inflammatory response. Electric aspects of cell and tissue physiology, cell biology, biophysics, and biochemistry are at play here.

I’ve incorporated grounding into my own life by using a grounding pillowcase for 2 years, a grounding blanket along, grounding shoes, and now a grounding mat.
